The Roses Creative Awards, now in their 6th successful year, strive to find the hidden gems in advertising, design and digital. This week, the judges made their final decisions after two days of reviewing all of the entries and we are extremely proud to have been nominated as a finalist.
Our entry was judged within the “Low Budget” category using the case study of The Curious Eatery, an exciting new restaurant in the village of Boughton Monchelsea, Kent. Owned by Botswanan sisters, Lesley and Nicole Parry, who have impressive culinary experience; both trained at Cordon Bleu’s Silwood School of Cookery in South Africa and private chef to Richard Branson.
We were asked to create a press invitation to the launch of their newly opened restaurant. The brief was simply to come up with something that demanded attention and was different. We referenced Alice in Wonderland, Wonderland being a ‘curious’ place that is unknown like The Curious Eatery. We wanted to engage with the reader and entice them by using an unusual hand folded carrier that also acted as an envelope, with the quote from the Cheshire Cat ‘Every adventure requires a first step’ to really create excitement. Once opened the carrier reveals the invitation with a key attached with the words bring me, again a play on the Drink me and Eat me labels in Alice in Wonderland.
The launch party was a huge success and now stands for something unique in the minds of their clients. The restaurant is attracting loyal customers who are spreading the word about their exceptional service and fantastic dining experience. We translated their vision into a strong brand which portrays their passion, personalities and that has really brought the business to life.
Winners of the awards will be announced at a black tie event in Manchester on 4 May.
